Frequently Asked Questions

The starting date is dependent on when fruit ripens. This is impacted by the weather. Generally the season starts from early November and runs through until the end of the year. It is possible that we may start picking in the final week of October and continue through to the start of January. We keep successful applicants informed with emails.

Ideally, we would love people to commit to the entire season as it allows us to develop a great relationship with our team. However, we understand that people may have other commitments. Please let us know your availability as early as possible.  

In short, yes! If you are travelling with a group of people, they will all need to apply. Please let us know in the initial email who you are travelling with so we can keep your applications together. If planning on staying at our on-farm accommodation, you will all need to be employed with us.

• We are at 3923 Olympic Highway, Young, NSW. This is about 10km south of the township of Young. Please be aware that a GPS may direct you to the homestead which shares our address. The packing shed and office is located about 300m south of the house on the highway. The house is a private residence.

By car

From Sydney/Canberra:

• Follow the Hume Hwy South until you reach the turn-off for Harden (Burley Griffin Way). Follow this road until just after Harden/Murrumburrah. Turn Right onto Wombat Road at the top of the hill. At the end of Wombat Road, turn right onto the Olympic Highway. We are located about a minute's drive from Wombat. Look for the big shed on the left side of the road.

From Melbourne:

• Follow the Hume Hwy north until you reach the Muttama Road turn off. Turn right onto the Old Gundagai Road. At the end of this road, turn right onto the Olympic Hwy. Continue along this road, past Wallenbeen and Wombat. Look for the big shed on the left side of the road.

By train

The closest train stations are at Harden (from Sydney) and Cootamundra (from Melbourne).

A vehicle is important as we are located about 10km from Young which is where you will find shops and restaurants. We also have 2 orchards and you will be required to work at both locations for picking fruit (Packing is all done at Fairfield's Orchard).
